HERSTORY

GGCN is deeply committed to the care of Gaia/Mother Earth - and the feminine life force that embraces healing and transformation for our children’s children and future generations. We hold life in all forms sacred, our ancestor's wisdom as treasure, and are building bridges to embrace the multiplicity of ways we may enrich our families and communities. We hold this as a sacred trust.

The Global Grandmothers’ Council Network was founded in 2019 by Suzanne Lewis and Sharon Riegie Maynard as a Facebook community calling together Grandmothers. Suzanne’s lifelong devotion to cross-cultural Indigenous Wisdom, the Sacred Feminine, and Planetary Peacekeeping responded to the CALL to SHOW UP. Simultaneously, Brooke Medicine Eagle, Earthkeeper, advocated that the time was now for the GRANDMOTHERS to gather GLOBALLY to lead the way through these challenging times. Sharon's teachings from The Ancient Ones restored our Star family's history and brought her to the same awareness that the Women, including Grandmothers, were key to safeguarding life.

In October 2023, Michele Margaret Juliet felt a deep inner calling to step into a global movement created for women, by grandmothers. Guided by a vision she could feel but not yet fully see, she began searching Facebook for a space where her dreams could take root. Her search led her to Suzanne, and after connecting, Michele joined in helping to administer the Facebook group, which then had around 1,200 members. Soon after, she introduced the Australian Multicultural Women’s Association to the network, significantly broadening its reach and depth. Under her care, the group expanded rapidly, growing to 34,000 members.

Then, in March 2024, Michele experienced a moment of profound guidance. Awakened in the night, she felt drawn to YouTube, where she was immediately met with an interview featuring Mayana Kingery. Mayana was on what she described as a Heartist Journey, traveling through the heart of Mother Earth—from Glastonbury, UK to Dobogókő, Hungary. Mayana’s grounded wisdom, her work with schools and governments, and her spirit of sacred service struck a deep chord. Michele recognized in her a kindred soul—someone carrying the other piece of this emerging global vision. Compelled to reach out, Michele invited Mayana into the fold.

By May 2024, Mayana had officially joined the mission, adopting the Facebook group, creating a nonprofit 501(c)(3) program through Peace Production #20-3782115, and helping to organize what is now a vibrant and growing global network: over 54,000 Grandmothers across 46 countries—and rising.
